Project Statement

I took part in a trip to Horn Island which is a small barrier island 12 miles south of ocean springs, Mississippi. Every year a group of artists go to this reserve where there is no modern facility and live for 9 days in nature. Each artists that attends creates a body of work inspired by the time on the island. The artists work goes up for sale into a big gallery show for the public a couple of months after the show.

This being my first time on the island I spent most of my time just taking in the experience and exploring the island. the body of work I produced directly reflects it. It would be easy to write in great lenght the impact that the trip had. It was easily one of the best experiences I have been apart of. being out there there is little concept of time. Ther is no worry or thought outside of what is to be explored that day. Everyday begins waking up with the sun and going out into the island.

The images in this selection are just a few that I took during my time there. The images I used for the gallery show are in the mix. I chose six photos and built costom frames out of oak for the hanging and am happy to say that I sold every piece, mostly to one person. They are currently hanging as a collection in a orthodintist's office.
